4/3/2024 0 Comments Rainmeter skins clock location![]() I can supply extra information about my system if it may be a help. Things seem to have installed the same as before and this works as a work around for me. When I refreshed and reloaded rainmeter the illustro theme loads up and I can install rmskin files without getting the "SkinPath not found Make sure that Rainmeter has been run at least once" error message. There is no line for skinpath so in the rainmeter.ini file I added C:\Program Files\Rainmeter\Defaults\Skins onto the line just below the first line which is. When I right click the Rainmeter tray icon and select "edit settings," my entire rainmeter.ini file loads and contains: There is a Rainmeter folder in my appdata folder. There is no rainmeter folder in my documents and I have a full administrator account. My skins are located in the Rainmeter program files folder under a folder called defaults. When the program opens I get an error message which says "there are no available skins at: C:\Program Files\Rainmeter\Skins." This error message meant that the default Illustro skin was not loading. I just clicked next in the uninstaller and did not change any default settings. Portable was the second option and I left it unticked. Next I restarted my laptop and downloaded a fresh installation of Rainmeter and made sure to select the normal/top option on both occasions. I used Revo Uninstaller Pro and CCleaner to clean the registry the second time it was uninstalled and searched in my appdata folder, program files and searched for Rainmeter in the start menu on both occasions. I uninstalled and reinstalled it twice to be sure. ![]() The problem seems to be repeating itself. Unless there is something about your system we are missing, that should have you running completely normally. Then re-install Rainmeter 3.0, being sure to tell it to do a "normal" install. Uninstall Rainmeter using Windows Add or Remove Programs. Either that, or just make note of where you got them, so you can install them again at the end of this. Somehow you are neither here nor there, and I would recommend getting right.īack up any skin folders you installed after installing Rainmeter. In ALL cases, you should, and almost must, have a SkinPath entry in Rainmeter.ini. If you installed "portable" you should not have anything at all related to Rainmeter in Appdata\Roaming, but if you installed normally, you should not have a Skins\ folder in Program Files\Rainmeter. I'm not quite sure what you have going on here. The will be in that same folder you installed Rainmeter in, instead of in Appdata\Rainmeter. Same with Rainmeter.ini and other Rainmeter configuration folders and files. My Documents\Rainmeter\Skins, they will be in the folder you installed Rainmeter in, under. Then everything is just kept in that folder. Yes, if you install "portable" the difference is that Rainmeter is installed in any folder you tell it, instead of the default C:\Program Files\Rainmeter folder. I have a 4kb Rainmeter.exe file in appdata\roaming and another Rainmeter.exe file in program files\rainmeter.ĭylan wrote:You have solved that problem and a related one that I posted a few days ago when I could not run rmskin files because I was getting an error message which said "SkinPath not found Make sure that Rainmeter has been run at least once." I am not sure if I selected "portable" mode or not when I installed Rainmeter, but surely "portable" mode would also have a skinpath option in Rainmeter.ini? I did the same in C:\Users\Dylan\AppData\Roaming\ which also contains a Rainmeter folder. ![]() I right clicked my Rainmeter folder in program files, went to the security tab and under my name can see that all permissions are allowed for my user name. I am using my regular Windows account which has full administrator permission. I will put this information in my older post too in case someone else encounters the same issue. I put in this code at the top on the line below and above where the code states: SkinPath=C:\Program Files\Rainmeter\Skins In the rainmeter.ini file which you showed me I added in the following code: You have solved that problem and a related one that I posted a few days ago when I could not run rmskin files because I was getting an error message which said "SkinPath not found Make sure that Rainmeter has been run at least once."
